Shadow of subject

I half walk, half stumble down the forest floor, my breath shaky. I feel sweat trickling down my face onto my tongue. I turn to a tree on the left and come to an abrupt halt. My hairs rise and a cool chill runs up my arms and neck. I run my hands over my arms and take deep breaths, the chill disappears but the sensation that came with it stays. The sensation that someone’s behind me, inching to grab me. I walk faster until I break into a frantic run. My hair falls in front of my eyes and I tuck it behind my ear but it just falls back. As the sensation gets stronger I run faster. Everything feels like in a whirlwind, my body shakes as it yearns to stop, threatening to collapse. I push through it and keep running. Looking far into the distance I see light. I run towards it and the nearer I am the more I squint. I raise my arms up to my eyes and walk on forward into the blinding light. As I walk on the lights dim out, until I’m concealed in darkness. Suddenly I feel something pinch into my right arm and a voice saying “Subject 2200 has been apprehended.”
